Driver’s seat / 300SL Chair
Mercedes-Benz 300SL – No. 01 / Chair: My fascination with iconic cars that have a rich racing history inspired me to design this unique office chair. The design and execution were a challenging process because I strived for perfection. The chair is upholstered with original Mercedes-Benz leather and features authentic components, such as a gear shift lever used to adjust the height of the chair. The round knob from the 300SL valve cover allows the chair to tilt smoothly backwards, letting you find the perfect position to relax. The technology comes from Vitra, and the wheels are available for both soft and hard surfaces. The striking steel base is inspired by the tubular frame of legendary historic race cars like the 300SL, Ferrari, and Porsche 550 Spyder. Each chair is unique and comes with its own chassis number. Production process of this 300 SL chair, a welding jig was made for the base and the steel tubes were professionally bent to the right shape. the seat itself, the original driver seat is not the same as the passenger seat, so we made a mold of the rear part to give the seat semetries the right shape and look.
