Vespa Rally 200 / 1975
In April 1972, Piaggio presented the Vespa 200 Rally to its sales network and the press in Genoa. The key innovations were the electronic ignition system and the largest 200cc engine ever available on a Vespa. The most striking difference at first glance was the presence of white decals on the side panels and front fender. The left side panel bore the inscription “ELECTRONIC,” referring to the new, modern ignition system. This is why the Rally was equipped with an ignition lock and key on the handlebars. The sporty color scheme was very popular, giving the Rally a certain “muscle” that suited the heir to the glorious and sporty GS models. The seat was comfortable, with ample room for a passenger. The frame and chassis of the 200 Rally were the best ever on a Vespa very stable in all situations, equipped with suspension suitable for its high performance, along with powerful drum brakes.
